Buenos dias from New Mexico! Since moving to Albuquerque earlier this year, I have been asked by numerous locals (mostly the younger ones!), "Why did you leave New York City to come here???" The answer is that after only a couple of visits, I was hooked on New Mexico's beauty, people and cultural landscape, which is full of art and activities that feed my soul and fit the roster of things that give me pleasure. In just a short anount of time, I have learned so much about my new home--its people, places, and cottage industries. While outsiders seem to have an overwhelming appreciation for New Mexico's charms, many people born and raised here seem to have lost, or perhaps never developed, a sense that they live in one of the greatest places on Earth. Afterall, financial incentives are not the only reason why Hollywood is gradually relocating here and numerous celebrities have had homes here for decades. One visit and you can't help notice that New Mexico is a hub of amazing life energy. That's why so many artists have tapped into it and made this region their home. The arts are as rich here as they are in any other major metropolitan area.
So, there you go, all you New Mexicans out there! Could it be that you forgot what you used to love about your home state? That's okay. Fuh-geh-uh-baugh-iht! I hope to remind, inspire and inform you about all the wonderful events and activities that are taking place right in your own backyard. Join me on the journey. You might just learn something new.
